Duplex balls and seats
Challenging processes require challenging components.
Recently, we were asked to machine 4 sets (4 balls and 8 seats) in superduplex for a trunnion-mounted ball valve.

After some feedback from Provecta on the choices made by the customer in the design, the implications of this on the complexity of machining and the cost in return, the ball got a redesign after all. So only winners after a round of sparring, good right!!!
During the quality tests, everything turned out to be just within specification: outside diameter, diameter of the passage, roundness. The roughness was also again nicely within the requested specification of 0.2-0.4 Ra. The trunnion features milled in nicely symmetrically on the spherical surface and the fits on it respected.
Afterwards, the balls were given another treatment with a TCC (tungsten carbide) coating to make them even more wear-resistant.
