To prevent wear, the seats and nozzles were welded on with stellite and then machined to the required roughness.

Stellite is a special bone-hard alloy including cobalt, chromium and tungsten and has excellent resistance to wear and erosion. Because of its good resistance to cold welding, this material is widely used in valve seats, plugs and pumps.
